It’s Sunday, my favorite day to relax and blog! I’ve had a busy month writing for Lonely Planet, leaving less time for the blog between my full-time job, personal life, and travels!
We went to Hawaii and celebrated our 5 year anniversary, retuning the Sheraton Maui where we got engaged then married, and have returned every year for our anniversary since! It was also the place where I thought to start a travel blog, 3 years later, here we are!

The Sweetest Escapes had it’s first anniversary last month, doing well for the first year! Thanks to all who follow our crazy adventures and sweet finds around the globe!
Ok, so, when we went to Monterey Bay for 4th of July this year and were driving up the coast, I found a few spots to stop along the way. When we returned and I started to map our trip with ice cream stops, I thought this would be a great pitch for another publication. I had enough stops to run from San Francisco to San Diego and couldn’t wait to get started. I pitched to Lonely Planet and was commissioned within a week to write my article and it was a paid gig!

Cookies, brownies, and blue ice cream are the core elements of this establishment! The Baked Bear has over a dozen original-recipe cookies and ice cream flavors, so you can customize your favorite combo. They’ll even roll the cookie in toppings for the picture perfect Instagram post!

After a long drive from LA, we were on the hunt for some good ice cream. Baskin Robbins was an option, but we wanted something more unique than that. We came across The Baked Bear seeing that they had homemade ice cream… and cookies!

How to Order
The cookies are made from scratch daily to make a custom ice cream sandwich! You can even pick two different cookies for your top and bottom. We ended up getting The Baked Bear Combo – M&M cookie (Josh got the peanut butter cookie), brownie, and bear batter ice cream (tastes like cake batter).

You can also order cookies by the dozen. Another option to try next time is a DONUT ice cream sandwich! That's right, I said it, ice cream in the middle of a donut!
