Disneyland Resort Halloween Time 2019 - Decorations, Events, and Food Guide
Fall is finally here and so is Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort! See our decoration, events, and food guide for your next trip to the happiest place on earth! #Disneyland #halloweentime #fall
Main Entrance Mickey and Friends Pumpkins
HAPPY FALL! Even though it’s supposed to be really hot outside today, it is officially fall in California and the Disneyland Resort is ready to go with their Halloween decorations! Even Downtown Disney and California Adventure are in full spirit too.
Full Food Guide here: Halloween Time Food Guide at the Disneyland Resort
SO MANY PUMPKINS! Downtown Disney's planters were filled with colorful fun pumpkins! You can enjoy the spookiness of Halloween Time from September 6th through October 31st, 2019.
What started out as a "Mickey's not so Scary Halloween" at Disneyland with pumpkins here and there, Disney has added more of a scary element to California Adventure with headless horsemen and ghoulish echoing laughs throughout the park. I think it could be a little scarier to compete with Six Flags and Universal Studios, but maybe they need a few more years.
Also, don't forget to check out the Halloween decor at Disneyland Paris.
HALLOWEEN TIME AT CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE
Every year it seems like California Adventure is adding more and more Halloween decorations each year. The highlight for me is always food-related and they nailed it with the Minnie Witch Shake this year! Ok, let’s start with the front of the park, here is the main entrance:
CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE Halloween Time Oogie Boogie MAIN ENTRANCE DAYTIME
CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE Halloween Time MAIN ENTRANCE NIGHTTIME
After entering the gates, Buena Vista Street had lots of bats and purple banners and lights, which I liked because it differentiated from Main Street at Disneyland that is filled with pumpkins and orange harvest decor.
Bats along Buena Vista Street
Last year, Carthay Circle was so cool with the bats flying out! They didn’t do that this year or put the banners up.
Mickey Mouse in his Halloween Costume
Even Mickey Mouse himself was dressed up in costume!
My favorite Halloween decoration is the Headless Horseman, who greets you just before you enter Hollywood. He laughs about it too. Muahahahhaa... Might be too scary for Disneyland, but perfect for California Adventure.
The highlight of my day was getting this Minnie Witch Shake at Schmoozies! A perfectly blended mint chocolate chip shake with a Halloween Minnie flair!
Disneyland Halloween Food - Minnie Witch Shake at Schmoozies
Schmoozies Halloween Treat Menu
Minnie Witch Shake - Mint Chocolate Chip Shake with Whipped Cream and Chocolate Cream-filled Cookie ears $7.49
Mummy Donut - filled with Peanut Butter and Jelly $8.99
Caramel Apple Smoothie - Apples, Ice Cream, Caramel Sauce and a Caramel Apple Lollipop $6.99
Also, across the way at Award Weiners try Oogie's Worms & Dirt Funnel Cake Fries - dusted in Crushed Chocolate Cream-filled Cookies with Cream Cheese Sauce, Cookie Pieces, Gummy Candies, Chocolate-coated Candies, and Whipped Cream $8.99
Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark 2019
After we got our milkshakes, we went over to get in line for Guardians of the Galaxy – Monsters After Dark! The Collector’s Fortress cages had been opened releasing all the monsters. We joined Rocket in a thrilling race to rescue Groot during this daring Halloween adventure! As we were waiting in line there were employees looking for the monsters that had been released and it was pretty funny.
CARS LAND at Halloween Time
Cars Land Halloween time - I don’t know this kid, but he’s cute
The next area haunted was Cars Land, where Halloween decorations covered every inch of it.
I LOVE these posters! They literally made me LOL, especially Hocus Spokus because Hocus Pocus is the best Halloween movie out there.
So I started to think that I hadn't paid enough attention to detail without the halloween decorations, because have they always had these tire planters? So clever!:
DIA DE LOS MUERTOS CARS LAND
I loved how they lit everything at night with green and purple lighting. I'm really glad I took a picture of this because I did not spend nearly enough time absorbing everything that was happening on this building.
Trunk or Treat… Get it?
Trick-or-treat! Speaking of, let's talk treats. In the Cozy Cone Motel, according to the Disney Parks Blog there were the best Halloween food options at the various cones:
· Slow Burnin’ Mac & Cheese Cone – Fresh-cooked pasta with spicy red pepper cheese sauce topped with crushed chile-cheese puffs, served in a Black Cauldron Cone
· Spoke-y Cone Macaron filled with marshmallow buttercream and candy corn
· Junkyard JamBOOree Mix – Choice of flavored popcorn with optional “nuts and bolts” (e.g., green M&M’s, candy corn, chocolate-covered pretzels, Boston baked beans, etc.)
We had to try the Slow Burnin’ Mac & Cheese Cone and got lemonades with pomegranate limeade on top! Review: Mac & Cheese = good, edible cone = bad. It definitely had a nice spice to it but for $9 I was expecting more both palate wise and by size. The crushed chile-cheese puffs were a nice touch. As for the lemonade, you had the option to add vodka to it!
This year we also tried the Haul-O-Ween Churro, which is a churro rolled in Oreos, green icing, gummy worms, and candies!

"Spoke-y" Cone Macaron - filled with Marshmallow Buttercream and Candy Corn $5.99
Cozy Corn - Buttered Corn on the Cob, brushed with spicy Lime Mayo, rolled in choice of Cotija, Cheese Puffs or spicy Cheese Puffs $6.49
Haul-O-Ween Churro - rolled in Crumbled Chocolate Creme-filled Cookies, Green Icing, Gummy Worms and Candies
Halloween Time ICE CREAM
Last year, Clarabelle’s Hand Scooped Ice Cream was scooping up the Bat Wing Raspberry Sundae which had white chocolate-raspberry swirl ice cream with raspberry splatter, blood-red sprinkles, whipped cream, and Bat Wing cookies.
This year they have changed the menu and the closest thing sounded like the Boogie Man Sundae, a Mint Chocolate Chip Ice Cream, Hot Fudge, Chocolate Cookie Crumbles, and Gummy Candies in a Chocolate-dipped Waffle Bowl.
Here is the Halloween Menu this year:
Last Year’s BAT WING RASPBERRY SUNDAE at Clarabelle’s Hand Scooped Ice Cream

COCO
There was a special section that was loco with Coco!
We started to trek our way over to Disneyland and kept finding cute decorations!
DISNEYLAND HALLOWEEN TIME DECORATIONS
Disneyland was all decked out with pumpkins and fall foliage!
As we were walking around before the fireworks started, we walked right by the Walt and Mickey statue that had carved pumpkins that were carved from the front and back (they weren't real, but they looked like they were)!
Haunted Mansion Nightmare Before Christmas Haunted Holiday
I loved Nightmare Before Christmas as a kid and love that they decorate the Haunted Mansion every year for the holidays. I can’t believe this movie has been out for over 25 years now!
THIS IS HALLOWEEN, THIS IS HALLOWEEN.....
Try and catch the Electrical Parade before it goes away again before Sept 30, 2019!

Everything you need to know about DISNEYLAND PARIS GUIDE - best things to do and see from a Disneyland expert!
We passed a billboard on the train that said Disneyland Paris tickets were around $80. We had one more day in Paris and thought that could be a fun way to end our vacation! Since we were with Josh's family, I really didn't think we were going to go and that it would take some convincing, but both Josh and his brother were game! I’ve been to Disneyland in California literally hundreds of times. We’ve also been to Hong Kong Disneyland and Walt Disney World so we were excited to explore another Disney Park and see how different it was from the other parks we had been to.
Don’t forget to pack these dresses!
HOW TO GET TO DISNEYLAND PARIS
Disneyland Paris is about 40 minutes outside of Paris, so we set out early to get there close to when it opened. For less than 8 Euro (one way), we took the RER A train from Auber to Disneyland Paris (at Marne La Vallée station). It took almost an hour and I was definitely more excited (and impatient) than the 6 year olds we shared a car with.
ENTRANCE TO WALT DISNEY STUDIOS
WHAT'S DIFFERENT IN DISNEYLAND PARIS?
After going to Disneyland hundreds of times and Walt Disney World a handful of times, what did we need to go to Disneyland Paris for?
First of all, there are 2 parks: Disneyland Park and Walt Disney Studios Park. Disneyland Park has your basics with exclusive features only in Paris: Pirates of the Caribbean, Thunder Mountain, Space Mountain: Mission 2, Haunted Manor. Walt Disney Studios Park has the newer rides: Tower of Terror, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster, Crush's Coaster, Toy Story Land. If you only have one day here's what you should see...
Walt Disney Studios Park:
Walt Disney Studios Paris
I thought it was weird we didn't see the Walt and Mickey Statue in the Disneyland Park, but lo and behold, there it was in the Studios Park.
WALT AND MICKEY STATUE - Hollywood Tower of Terror PARIS
BONJOUR BUZZ!
Elements were taken from both Disneyland and Disney World, but when we approached Toy Story Land and a giant Buzz Lightyear greeted us with, "Bonjour," Paris Disneyland definitely had a unique charm.
Related Post: Guide to Hong Kong Disneyland
Toy Story Land had rides for little kids, much like A Bug's Life Land in California Adventure so we didn't spend much time there. Now Walt Disney World and Hong Kong Disneyland have Toy Story land. I personally liked Hong Kong’s version of Toy Story land the best!
Down the street from Toy Story Land, there was a little bit of Car's Land, not quite like California Adventure but there were a few familiar buildings that occupied one of the street corner's including the bumper car ride, Flo's Cafe, and a gift shop.
CAR'S LAND CORNER
Crush's Ride was a favorite at the Studios Park. It can't be found in any of the US Parks (although they should add it - preferably to California Adventure), and is a unique roller coaster type that you ride with Crush from Finding Nemo in a turtle shell along the EAC. It's fast, it spins, it's fun! We waited about an hour for it, but it was worth it (and dry).
Much like the studios in Orlando, you could also find rides such as the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster and Tower of Terror.
Paris Disneyland Park:
SLEEPING BEAUTY'S CASTLE - Paris Disneyland
We went in October and the park was all decked out with Halloween decorations. Main street was full of spooks and pumpkins everywhere you looked!
Related Post: Halloweentime at the Disneyland Resort
In the US parks, you can enter through the gates of the castle and there are shops or restaurants within the walls. Here, you can go under Sleeping Beauty's castle and visit a DRAGON. He has a little smoke that come from his mouth and moves around.
DRAGON UNDER SLEEPING BEAUTY'S CASTLE
Space Mountain: Mission 2 is one of my favorite rides but Paris wins in my book! It not only takes place dark in space inside, but also goes outside AND HAS A LOOP! So nice, we did it twice. Compared to the other Disney parks, this one is the best. Make sure you grab a fastpass!
SPACE MOUNTAIN MISSION 2
As a huge fan of the Indiana Jones ride in California Disneyland, I was surprised when we came across Paris' Indiana Jones et le Temple du Péril. It was still a thrill ride, but it was an outdoor roller coaster (kinda like Everest at Animal Kingdom). Space Mountain Mission 2 was better if you're looking to go one one or the other.
We also enjoyed the Pirates of the Caribbean. Of all the different versions, this one seemed to tell the story the best.
You could also find other Disneyland classics such as Big Thunder, Small World, Haunted Mansion, Autopia, Buzz Lightyear, and Dumbo. In Frontierland, they have the Lucky Nugget, which I'm used to seeing the Golden Nugget at home!
Haunted Mansion
FOOD AT DISNEYLAND PARIS
We ate at the Hakuna Matata Restaurant because we were hungry and it was raining. They had chicken tenders and fries that were pretty good for Disney Park foo. They had more options but all we needed at that time was basic food.
Of course we had to have ice cream so we indulged in some ice cream sandwiches. Yum!
Overall, if you're a Disney fan, I highly recommend it!

Things to do in Norway: Reindeer Rides
We met real reindeer when we went to Norway! We were paraded around in a sled through the snow! See more of our unbelievable experience on the blog!
Reindeer in Norway
What to do in Tromso, Norway: Reindeer Rides
One of our favorite adventures in Norway was a reindeer sleigh ride!
We booked our entire trip through Off the Map Travel, and they set everything up for us from hotels to activities and getting to and from everything. It was really nice that we didn't have to figure out how to get from the airport or how to get to this random place in the middle of Norway.
Reindeer in Tromso, Norway
REINDEER SLEIGH RIDES
Here's how our day went:
From our hotel, we walked over to the Radisson Blu and got on a small bus of about 14 people to the Tromso Lapland. It was a 20-minute drive to the Sami lavvu where we changed into a winter suit and gloves that they provided so our stuff didn’t get wet! BTW, see our guide as to what to pack for a trip like this: Packing Essentials and Check List for your next Snow Adventure
We jumped back on the bus and drove another 20 mins to the reindeer!
After a small hike uphill, the reindeer were waiting for us by our sleighs. I leaped to them (literally, I was that excited)! Of course, I had to pet them and take tons of pictures, which I'm sure they loved me invading their personal space. It's what I do best. ;-)
Soon after, we were all seated and ready for take off.
Reindeer Rides in Norway
The reindeer don't run quite as fast as the sled dogs, it's a slower paced, more peaceful ride. We did a large lap around the trees through the snow. We were all bundled up so it wasn't too cold! It was nice to take in the sites and experience Norway in such a special way.
White reindeer in Norway
This was a once in a lifetime experience. Not only did we have a reindeer ride, but we also learned of the native Sami culture. The reindeer ride consisted of about 7 or 8 reindeer pulling individual sleds. They are connected buy ropes and then all sleds are connected one by one.
At first, the guide was leading the reindeer up and around the hill and then hopped on the sled and away we went. Our ride lasted about 40 mins total and was very peaceful trekking through the freshly powdered snow.
FEEDING REINDEER
Feeding Reindeer
After our ride, they tied the reindeer in a more open area, where we were able to feed them! Most of the time they would knock the food out of my hands and almost force me out of the way with their antlers to eat the remains from the snowy ground. I did get to pet them, their fur is coarse and some of them even had fur fuzz on their antlers!
We then moved locations to a traditional Sami Lavvu (it looks like a teepee) where we had reindeer stew for lunch while being told stories of their culture along and even a joik (Sami song) was sung for us.
It wasn't quite reindeer leading Santa's sleigh, but still had an enjoyable time!

Disneyland Resort Halloween Time 2018
Fall is here and so is Halloween Time at the Disneyland Resort! Check out how they decorated this year and their halloween treats they are offering! #Disneyland #halloweentime #fall
The Disneyland Resort has really upped their game this year with the Halloween decorations. Not only is Disneyland all decked out for the harvest, but Downtown Disney and California Adventure are getting in the spirit too.
SO MANY PUMPKINS! Downtown Disney's planters were filled with perfect pumpkins! You can enjoy the spookiness of Halloween Time from September 7th through October 31st, 2018.

CALIFORNIA ADVENTURE
Now, California Adventure has been getting into the spirit of themes and celebrations, such as when the Guardians of the Galaxy ride opened with their Super Hero promotion #heroup. Also, I love their annual Food and Wine festival and this year has been the best yet with new food options and adding a beer garden! ANYWAY, I am thrilled they have added more decorations for Halloween along with some delectable treats you cannot miss! Let's start with the main entrance during the day and lit up at night...
